COVID-19′s Pandemic Effects on Bike Sharing Systems: A New Reality for Urban Mobility?

On 11 March 2020, the World Health Organization made assessment that a new disease (COVID-19) caused by novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) could be characterized as pandemic. From point, chain reaction of events and difficult decisions requiring action was launched. National governments all over world announced partial or total quarantine lockdowns in an effort to control virus’ spreading order save many lives possible. The effects pandemic were multifaceted transport not excluded. current paper examines data regarding level usage (provided administrator) bike-sharing systems three case studies/medium-sized Greek cities (Igoumenitsa, Chania, Rhodes) through statistical analysis identifies if there is correlation between implemented measures modal choice residents. main results conclusions this reveal these specific significantly increased during lockdown period compared situation before general.
